In April, the Moose Jaw Art Guild (MJAG) reached out to Robin Schlaht of the Saskatchewan Network for Art Collecting (SKNAC) to see if he could help with an art auction to raise money for the Canadian Red Cross humanitarian crisis appeal in Ukraine to collect.

Schlaht thought the idea was fantastic and reached out to arts organizations across Saskatchewan to help.

“When Karen (Whitney at MJAG) contacted us, we realized that maybe we should work with the guilds, the art societies, and the cooperatives,” Schlaht said MooseJawToday.com In April.

The auction ran from April 13th to May 8th on the SKNAC website. The goal was to collect around 100 donated artworks and raise at least $10,000 for humanitarian aid in Ukraine. Schlaht promised that 100 percent of any successful bid would go to the Canadian Red Cross.

A total of 111 artworks were sold – and raised $15,750.

The Red Cross sent donation receipts to participating artists and collectors. Most buyers were Canadian. Two pieces went internationally – one to a buyer in Denmark, another to a buyer in New York.

“I am very excited about this successful humanitarian fundraiser,” said Whitney.
