Raleigh artist Morgan Cook wants to apply.
“My hope is that I can create an installation-style piece that is only traditional for my job,” said Cook.
Cook’s work can be seen in many areas of Raleigh, including his newest mural on Atlantic Avenue at Club Cardio. The call for artists for the Artsplosure categories includes ceramics, fine arts, glass, metal, painting, photography, wood as well as 2D and 3D.
Live music is also a big part of the festival, which has been around for more than 40 years.
Now in the pandemic, Cook says it’s even more important to rebuild the sense of community and keep the pulse of Raleigh’s art scene beating.
“We’ve been so isolated over the past few years,” said Cook. “And when you’re so hidden, you need something that is emotionally stimulating like art. And being able to do so in a responsible way, where we all come together and celebrate that creativity is good for us. “
The application deadline for artists at Artsplosure ends on February 7th.
