Artists residing in upstate New York are invited to submit entries for The Art of New York: Annual Juried Art Show, hosted by the Arkell Museum and Canajoharie Library. Juror Walter Hatke is an elected member of the National Academy of Design, was first apprentice and painting assistant to Jack Beal, a leader of the New York Realists movement, and assistant to the sculptor Alexander Calder. He is the former Walter C. & May I. Baker Professor of Visual Arts at Union College (retired) and is represented in collections across the United States. Selected awards include grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Vermont Studio Center, an Ingram Merrill Foundation Grant for Painting, and the Best of Show Award from the Salmagundi Club, New York, NY in 2019.
Limit of 50 inches for 2D, 24 inches for 3D works. Accepted works will be on view at regional art galleries from May 13 to July 24, 2022. Accepted artists and one guest can tour the Arkell Museum with free admission tickets for a day. Accepted artists may also be considered for Regional Art Gallery solo exhibitions. Awards: Best in Show – $300 cash prize, a $100 gift card from Golden Artist Colors and a solo show at one of three regional art galleries; two Juror’s Choice Awards—$100 in cash plus a $100 gift card from Blick Art Materials; two Awards of Excellence – a $100 gift card from Blick Art Materials.
