Hot wheels auctioned off for a cool cause: Brevard Zoo’s aquarium

Online and telephone bidding begins July 6 for the rare 1968 L89 Chevrolet Chevelle, which will be auctioned to benefit Brevard Zoo’s aquarium, conservation and education programs.

The V-8 vehicle, Matador Red, originally one of seven and now the last of its kind known to exist, will be auctioned off in person at the Orange County Convention Center on Saturday, July 9th. The car was the subject of cover stories in Muscle Car Review and other publications.

“Matthew and Laura Nicoletti generously offered to donate the proceeds of the auction to support the Our Legacy campaign,” said Keith Winsten, the zoo’s executive director. “The donation will go directly to the zoo’s animal health, conservation and education programs, as well as the construction of our future aquarium and conservation center.”
