LIBERTY – Dirty Dancing-related memorabilia will be among the items that will be auctioned off on August 21 at the Liberty Museum & Arts Center.
The museum is holding three auctions of memorabilia and personal effects from the estate of Jackie Horner, the celebrity dancer who inspired the film “Dirty Dancing”. The film created a fictional network of famous Catskills resorts, including the legendary Grossinger’s, where Horner, who died last year at the age of 87, appeared and taught dance for over 30 years. She associated with the greatest stars of the era, the Golden Age of the Catskills.
Horner’s personal effects include a pair of her dancing shoes and one of her evening dresses. Admission to the auction is free and takes place as part of the museum’s 25th anniversary.
The next two auctions will take place in 2022. The doors open for the auction on August 21 at 12 noon; the auction is at 2pm
The museum is located at 46 South Main Street in Liberty. For more information, visit the museum’s website at www.libertymuseum.com or call 807-6725 or 292-2394.
