Georgia artist who painted Jason Aldean’s Beavis & Butt-Head mural says ‘I love the hate’

Last week, a certain mural in Macon, Georgia started setting the internet on fire…

And it was none other than a Mural by Jason Aldean.

Except that it was more of a Dollar General version of Aldean (ironically because it was painted on a Dollar General’s side) and was more like Beavis & Butthead than the country singer.

Even Aldean’s own father said they “dirty” him with the portrayal.

Needless to say, it was probably a minor slap in the face for the man himself.

Although he was flattered by the move, he stopped a little shaken about the finished product:

“I have no idea, I started seeing pictures of it on Facebook, and then I think my dad sent it to me and he was like, ‘Well that’s cool, they just kind of got you dirty.’

The mural, you know, it’s weird, it’s like, obviously I appreciate the gesture and I think it’s a cool thing.

But when I looked at it, I was like, ‘God, man, is this how people see me?'”

Though people absolutely blew the painting online, it seems the artist, who has been identified as Shamika Bussey, doesn’t mind the criticism one bit.

she said 13 WMZ:

“I love the hate. I laughed when he said his father said I made him dirty.

I made it in the rain, in two hours because of the rain, and I got up on the roof of my truck and I made it, and I put my heart into it and I was so proud when it was done. Nobody could take that away from me.

I’ve seen that people have an opinion…everyone is entitled to their opinion and I say ‘that’s life’ and in life people either love us or hate us.”

In fact, Bussey has gained so much notoriety for the painting that she’s having a meet-and-greet this Saturday.

Still, I can’t stop laughing my ass off at the painting, and considering Aldean’s last album was named after Macon, Georgia (and was pretty ridiculous too), it’s just too perfect.
