Historic Art in Chester | Essex, CT patch


CHESTER, CT – The Chester Historical Society farm finds a creative challenge – a virtual silent auction.

What IS the Farm Finds Challenge you ask? When we rescued old farm equipment from a vacant lot in Chester in 2019, we discovered dozens of 2-inch perforated metal squares on the floor. Aha! Farm finds!
As with the last eight creative challenges based on artifacts from Chester’s production history (hooks from Brooks, knitting gauges from Bates, manicure sticks from Bishop & Watrous, and even scraps of discarded red velvet curtains from Meetinghouse), local artists, designers, jewelers and more are accepting the “challenge” of creating unique and desirable items for a silent auction to raise funds for the Historical Society.
There are 41 unique Farm Finds creations from 34 artists.

Viewing schedule:
24/7 online auction
Wed 10/6 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. Museum open for viewing & bidding
Sun 10/10 10-4 Museum open for viewing & bidding. Auction CLOSES at 4:00 p.m.
All proceeds from the event will go to the preservation and display of Chester history through the Chester Historical Society and the Chester Museum at The Mill.
