iDealwine has been named the number one wine auctioneer in France by the country’s auction regulator for the sixth consecutive year.
The Conseil des Ventes Volontaires (CVV) has published its annual report listing the top French auction houses in all sectors, including art, wine and classic cars.
For the sixth time in a row iDealwine has been named the leading wine auctioneer in France with a 42% market share in the sector.
“As in previous years, the performance of the wine category is primarily based on the success of the market leader: International Wine Auction (iDealwine‘s subsidiary), which only operates online and has auctioned 93,739 lots and achieved a total of 19 million euros, ”said the CVV.
iDealwine held 41 auctions in 2020, offering over 175,000 bottles for sale for a total of 23.4 million euros – over 40% of all wines auctioned in France (compared to 37% in 2019).
Auctions aside, iDealwineThe fixed price sales of, which contains wine that is purchased directly from partner houses at cellar door prices, rose by 46% to € 10 million. Overall, iDealwine generated sales of 33 million euros in 2020, 15% more than in 2019.
Despite a turbulent year, the market for wine auctions has remained relatively stable, with iDealwine increasing the gap to the market leaders.
In France, wine auctions fetched € 47 million with no commission, which is only 4% of the total art and collectibles category.
