Orillia Fine Arts Association hosts flea market fundraiser

The September 10 sale will raise money for scholarships for local high school students

Since 2017, the Orillia Fine Arts Association (OFAA) has awarded our Mary Rose Scholarship to each of Orillia’s high schools for graduates pursuing post-secondary fine arts education.

One of the primary ways we raise money for the scholarship is through our annual Mary Rose Yard Sale. This year it will be held on Saturday, September 10th from 9am to 2pm in the backyard at 154 Nottawasaga St.

This is always a popular event. Our members have set aside contributions for the sale and we are trying to make it an exceptional sale with many treasures to be discovered.

Mary Rose was a very popular member of the Orillia Fine Arts Association who died in 2017. She left a wealth of art to our Association, which was used to raise money for the student scholarship at the first garage sale this year.

Last spring, the scholarship was awarded to three students, Megan Taylor from Twin Lakes Secondary School, Mya McGee from Patrick Fogarty Catholic Secondary School and Viktoria Peden-Henry from Orillia Secondary School. Recipients also had the opportunity to display their work on the OFAA wall at Hibernation Arts.

We look forward to many people stopping by to buy interesting things and contribute to this ongoing scholarship.
