WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – The Wilma W. Daniels Gallery, Cape Fear Community College Fine Arts Department and the Wilson Center have announced the schedule for the Fall 2022 semester art exhibitions, which will run from July 2022 through January 2023.
Eden Village: A Collective Exhibition will be open weekdays from 12pm to 5pm from July 13 to September 2, while receptions will begin from 6pm to 9pm from July 22 to August 26.
The exhibition is an art fundraiser that features the work of several CFCC artists including Ben Billingsley, Geoff Calabrese, Jennifer Mace and Sharon Wozniak-Spencer.
According to a Wilson Center publication, “The Eden Village of Wilmington is a community model that builds tiny living communities for the disabled and chronically homeless. Wozniak-Spencer’s own work embodies “Friends in Need” as it makes thoughtful reference to everyone, especially the homeless. She was inspired by her graduate work at the Academy of Art in San Francisco, where she received her MFA, to want to give back with her own art and to care for those in need. There will be a silent auction for selected items, with 100% of the proceeds going to Eden Village, which will run for the duration of the exhibition. Artists also donate a portion of the proceeds from their artwork sales to Eden Village.”
Acting Out: Visual Responses to a Changing World runs from September 12 to November 4 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., with the reception opening from September 23 to October 28 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The event consists of artworks by members of the Women’s Caucus for Art, expressing how the painter has been forced to make changes in recent years and how they are responding to the changing world.
The 2022 CFCC Faculty Art Show will feature the latest artworks from the college’s faculty, with the exhibition scheduled from November 18 to January 9 on weekdays from 12 to 5 p.m. Reception dates and a list of exhibitors have yet to be announced.
