I’m happy to see photos that I took back in my youth are still relevant today. ““I was fortunate,” continued Simmons, “that my career has been mentored and shaped by many, including film directors Carlton Moss and Ousman Sembène, who are considered the father of African cinema, and photographer Robert“ Bobby ”Sengstacke, who made me into street photography. And today I am honored that the J. Paul Getty Museum is purchasing some of my photos for its permanent display. “The four photographs the Getty is acquiring include:” The Fan, “Los Angeles, CA, 2017; “Love on the Bus,” Chicago, IL, 1967; “United or Perish,” Chicago, IL, 1969; and ‘Fight Like A Girl’, Los Angeles, CA, 2018, the latter two of which can be seen in the current exhibition at the Getty Museum. John Simmons also donated a photo titled “Observatory,” Los Angeles, CA, in 2017 for their permanent collection. Simmons continued, “Aside from my art exhibitions, I hope that my cameraman appearances for the restart of” iCarly “and” Family Reunion “will be picked up for new seasons. I start filming Nickelodeon’s “Warped!” this summer.
